Background music cannot be lowered in relation to game
« on: December 08, 2008, 10:42:27 pm »
Hello,

I am just getting everything set up in MALA now and finding my way around.  One of the features I really like on MALA is that when you are browsing for a game to play, music plays in the background.

I noticed that it even has it's own volume control.  So I set the volume to a nice low "background music" level, but then I also noticed that the games lowered in volume too.  Going back and putting the volume back up high and the volume of the game went back up too.

So I guess I just discovered that the volume controls the whole system volume.

I know that I possibly could purposely record some music at a much lower volume and that would balance it out, so that isn't too big of a deal.  Still,  it would be better if there were independent control of the background volume in relation to the game.

Overall the background music is a cool feature, but it would be even better if the volume of the game and the music can be independently controlled.

Sounds great!  I think it would be good to have like a mixer section (game volume control & music volume control)  and then anyone could choose how they want the output.   Who knows, maybe someone would want the game volume to be lower.  (Parents to hear music, but don't want to hear loud beep beep beeps from the game).   For me though I do want to have the music in the background at a lower volume and then the games play at a louder value.

Come to think of it, perhaps even a third volume control would be good for when the cabinet is operated as a jukebox.  Then you don't want the volume to be lower.

What do you think?  Could that be done?
