question about installing the joystick

Hey Gang,
Love the site.  I'm a newbie, so bear with me.  

I'm building a sidewinder hack joystick.  I'm instalilling it in custom built 3/4 " box.  I was curious as to what screws/bolt/??? you use to  install the actual joystick into the box. (i;'m sure it can be done with several differen types of things, but was is "standard"

People usually use 3/16" thread diameter carriage bolts (aces or true value have them... I only found 1/4" in home depot...)

You can also use size 10 machine screws and nuts although that's not necessarily as authentic.

Other people have screwed from the bottom into the wood using wood screws *shrug* not my cup of tea personally...

I believe that about covers it.

If you don't intend to ever remove the joystick then just screw it down with 3/4" #8 wood screws from the inside.

I personally don't like the feel of the bolt tops from the other side. I assume that arcade have them so that they can change out the sticks. In the home, you'll never change the stick so no need for the bolts. (Wood screws would chew up the wood for them.)

You never know.  Some new product comes out, like the new joystick shaft from slikstik

you don't need to remove the body to change the handle.
