Hello,

I am looking for a particular website that I used to get all my cabinet, marquee, snapshots, and flyer art from.  I completely forgot the name of the site.

I been out of the Mame loop for about 4 years now, but I have come back because I "inherited" a bunch of older machines that would work great as game room machines set up with Mame.  However, I got a new computer and had a couple of hard drive wipes since that time and I have no recollection of that site.

It was a very informative site that even had the history of the machines.  At one point in time they DID allow ROM downloads, but they stopped that.  However all the information regarding the roms was still on the site.

The site had the dark bluish/green background color typical of most sites that host mame related information.

If I had to take a stab at it, for some reason the name "Romulator" comes to mind.

Again I am NOT asking for a site for roms but a site that has all the artwork and information.  The last time I was at this site they NO LONGER allowed rom downloads, but they had tons and tons of artwork and other useful information about each machine.

It is too bad that I don't remember the site, but I am hoping someone here might remember it.  Perhaps it may be still in operation.  But if not, I am willing to look into a similar site if someone can point me in the right direction.

Thank You,

Geo

Hello all,

I guess I kind of "accidentally" answered my own question and pretty much the site was practically under my nose.

It is MAWS.

The name must have changed at one point in time, or it is a different site that follows the same format.   The colors are also different.

The site that I mentioned did reflect the fact that it was "Rom" related.  As I said, at one point in time you COULD download roms from the site, but they stopped that.  However, they left all the important information behind.   But the site is a great source for cabinet artwork.

At any rate I am still open to other sites that have similar or even better information.

you can try a Torrent site:

http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=mame

I saw something on this site about control panels so since I already have Deluge with Linux, I decided to try this file out.

Thusfar I am not getting activity.

http://www.mamechannel.it/

I went to this site and it is all in Italian.  ...Well most of it is, but when I tried to view/download the art files, the site is asking for a password.  Obviously I have to register to download, but I am at the slight disadvantage that I don't know how to read or speak Italian  :-\.

So while I am waiting for the torrent file to show some progress, I am going to continue with MAWS.

For the most part this is good enough, but most of the control panels are not straight on views.  I downloaded a skin for MALA that shows a picture of an arcade cabinet and naturally the marquee, snapshot art and control panel art go in their perspective places on the arcade cabinet.  Naturally the control panels that are off, look off!

Thanx for the info,

Geo

Mr. Do has alot of sets.

http://www.mameworld.net/mrdo/mame_artwork.html

Thanx for the link.  I did look at it and save it, but the artwork is kind of haphazardly arranged on that site.

The Bit torrent for the control panels is taking forever to download, and the other site is in Italian and needs registration.

So I think I am going to stick with MAWS.  It will be a slow process to download all the artwork I need, but it is coming along.

Thanx,

Geo

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, there are links to full sets of Control Panel Pics, Cabinet Pics, Marquee Pics.

Here's a more direct link.

Thanx for the direct link for that site, it did make downloading the artwork simple.  However, it actually seemed harder for me to pick and choose the files from those multiple .zip files and putting them all together made searching for what I need even worse LOL!

So what I ended up doing is going back to MAWS and working from there.  The only shortcoming with MAWS is that for some reason I cannot download the samples.  Perhaps there are samples on the site you gave me.

Thanx,

Geo
