I am currently dual modding my Hotrod SE arcade controller to work with both the PS3 and PC using the Cthulhu board and a terminal block to split the wiring.  Seems pretty easy so far!  The only thing is that for a dual player setup, you need two boards.  I tested the joystick and buttons and it's straight forward enough.

Unusual, an original question and a quick answer. Haven't had that combination in a while...

I used two of them for my Virtua Stick Pro (Astro City) panel mod.  They are very easy to use, and have zero lag, even on PS3.  The only downsides are that there are a lot of wires to strip and on PC, it is recognized as a joystick rather than a keyboard.  (Or, more accurately, a POV hat on a joystick).  This is a bit more difficult to use than a keyboard type encoder because you can use some MAME defaults with boards like the IPac.  Also, if you want to have a two player panel, you need two Cthulus, whereas with an Ipac (or any of the others) you usually only need one.

The Cthulu also doesn't support trackballs or spinners.

Long story short: if you want to build a MAME controller with all of the bells and whistles (like a trackball, spinner, multiple joysticks, etc.) use an Ipac or some other keyboard controller. If you only want to build a good joystick, the Cthulu is a better way to go.  I used them on the Astro City panel because it doesn't have a spot for a trackball or spinner and I'm intending to use it for PS3 also, but my main MAME panel is built around an Ultimarc Ipac2.

Im getting two of them sometime this week probably, about 2 weeks ago maybe a bit longer he updated it to be multi platform.  The MC version now supports Gamecube, PS2, PS1, PC, & PS3.  As well as having the ability to be programed with more down the road.

I have adapter boxes for my system on a switch so I can play with multi systems and this is going to be how I get Wii compatibility.   One of his boards is cheaper and WAY easier than hacking a PS3 pad so you cant go wrong.

Also look up his UPCB (universal pcb) it does the same stuff but it has a different way of approaching it.

Let me know how that goes!  See I went with a switch to totally separate the circuits (also because like the post above you can see I am now hitting my 3rd system thus 3 pcbs) but there seems to be an issue with having 2 pcb on one button set.  You dont just wire them both separately you also have to wire the power of the two pcb together so that the circuit can be completed for the signal.  Something like that.

I could not figure out why it has to be done, but here is the thread on it to help you: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=146124

My only delema now is do I want to save $9 per board and solder them myself or pay the full price for it already done.... I like to solder and all but $9 is an hours wage and it would take me more than an hour to setup, do it, and put my stuff back up.

Edit: I just ordered 2 of the full MC kits from Toodles directly.  If you get the full kit he offers to put a custom usb data string on there for you wich I think is neat.  Meaning when you plug it into your computer, and go into the gamepad section of windows the name of the gamepad is that custom string.
