PC Game Additions
« on: November 30, 2008, 04:52:37 pm »
So I showed a co-worker my cab and went through a ton of great classics and he asked if I had any newer PC games, it was something I hadn't really considered.  I'm sure I can hook up a PC game through the front end and it got me thinking about what games might be best to add to a cabinet.

What games translate well to arcade play?  The computer I'm using can handle most games, one that he recommended was to put a Guitar Hero game and add the wireless controllers.  Does anybody have a list of their favorite PC games to put on the cabinet?

Here's what I have on my cab...

Also, I hear that SF4 is going to be ported to the PC.  Hopefully it will be cab friendly.

That was great!  There were some great options there (and best of all...free!).  I think I am going to look into MUGEN and Super Mario Wars ASAP!!

Thanks!  :applaud:

Keep in mind that most MAME games use primarily the CPU, whereas most modern PC games use the graphics card primarily. So you need a decent graphics card to play most modern PC games.

Also, you may want to consider a USB xbox 360 controller (either wired or wireless). Many more games are becoming almost straight ports and a number are designed with that controller in mind (something I don't like much since I like the mouse/keyboard control setup, and games that are ported without the publishers tweaking the UI sometimes are screwy with mouse/keyboard). In fact, if I recall correctly, I belive that Games for Windows logo games must be designed so that an xbox 360 controller will work fine on them.

Again, this applies to modern games which you mentioned. Older games are differant beasts.
