Speaker Grill material
« on: November 26, 2008, 09:36:22 pm »
I need to fabricate speaker grills for my showcase.

Anyone have a source for metal mesh or know the thickness/gauge to use?

Any input would be appreciated.

thanks!

Here's an exact answer to your question.   :applaud:

I read somewhere in a topic on BYOAC a while back that someone was looking for the reproduction for speaker mesh grills for Williams games.  They did some research and found the exact size and thickness they needed.  (Wish I could give credit to the person who posted it, but I can't find the topic)

Although I can't remember the topic, I did save the link in my e-mail account for future reference.   8)

Here it is:

Enjoy!

I was looking for this kind of stuff.  Home depot only sold the "plastic" screen stuff.

Thanks

Thanks DeLuSioNaL, I knew perforated sheet metal was the ticket but just had no idea what thickness.

Glad to hear Home Depot carries plastic too Sardu, that may b e easier to work with/cut & etc.

Too bad its a holiday, otherwise I would be at the store right now.

Yeah, but you can't mold it in any way.  :(

Does it break when given a slight bend?

Due to the way I decided to mount this stuff it wont have to hold its shape on its own because it will be forced into its slight arc by the way its mounted.

Its ok if it returns to a flat surface when removed.

Now I am getting nervous again, dogh!
