Just picked up one of these.... good thing I tested it right away, stupid tank has a leak by one of the welds.  You can hear it hissing 15 feet away.

Good for some things.  Not so good for others.   That said,  I have a Harbor Freight pancake compressor that has been great for the last 3 years.

Soon.  First I need to get some more framing done - so I got the compressor and a framing gun.  Next after that is the sandblast cab.

Even in working condition I don't think that compressor will adequately power a framing nailer. My Senco and my buddies DeWalt both like at least 100psi.

That's the gun.  If I have the numbers right this should work but I won't be shooting a ton of nails in a row.  Can't see that need stick framing a basement anyway.  Lots of measure-cut-shoot 6 nails-measure-cut-etc.  I don't need to frame more than this one project so I didn't want to buy a massive compressor.  The rest of my needs are finish/brad, sandblasting, and painting.

W00t.  Brought that POS back and replaced it with one of these I got used off CL for $140.

Keeps getting interrupted by things that need doing.  And I'm paying out of pocket as I go so sometimes I just have to wait for the next couple hundred to be available for materials.

I had the Harbor Freight version of that kind of compressor...it was very underpowered and,  frankly,  quite asstastic.  Obviously DeWalt is a better manufacturer so you're likely going to be in a better position than I was.  I took mine back and went with a pancake style to get it in to my RV.  About the same PSI as the style above,  but lighter,  and easier to maneuver...and made it in the RV door.  Unfortunately it too sucks for anything but the smallest of jobs.  I so want to get me a nice 60-100 gallon garage unit.

I understand about life getting in the way.  I've been trying all weekend to paint the dining room.  I'd hate for her to take our 3yr old with her to do some errands to give me a chance to get something accomplished.

When I painted my wife's study I found all these fingerprints in the finish when the paint cured.  Couldn't even buff them out.  I asked my wife about them and she said "kids must have done it."  The fingerprints are more than 6' high...  suuuure it was the kids.

Like i said if you were closer I would give you a hand.  I remember when I did my basement how much of a pain it was doing it by myself.  I had to put off doing my screened in porch because of a lack of labor resources.  I watched my neighbor put a porch on his house by himself, but he's also a skilled craftsman.  I am what some call a novice's novice.
