U360 Lighted Stick?
« on: November 20, 2008, 10:58:45 pm »

Anyone know how best to mod the U360 to light up the stick?

Ideas are certainly welcome...

  David

By far the best stick out there, and it sure would be nice to have it light up.  :)

Ok, found some.

Although, this is only for BALL top.

Anyone know if there is someone who has done this for BAT (or Oval) top?

I have yet to see any bat tops that light up.

Maybe Randy will come up with something?

I have never seen them but that doesn't mean there can't be. I guess the real issue is the longer shaft.  :P

FYI, those LED sticks you linked to will not work with the U360s.  Here's why:

Somewhere here on the board made some lighted bat tops.  I'll see if I can dig up the thread.

Yup....that's me and I have been holding out. I bought a U360 back in January to add to my panel. It has been alive and well since February as a glow bat top.

I really wanted to kit these but ran into hard times as the North American economy slumped. I was laid off in March after being employed as a Toolmaker for 18 years (company closure). A new job popped up and lasted 2 months until their work dried up as well. Laid off again. I'm happy to say that I'm employed again and still in the same trade (not automotive sector related this time). Time will see with this job.  ???

I never make promises that I can't keep and certainly won't make one at this time. The U360 isn't really hard to mod but is more involved. I'll post more info if I get things worked out in the new year. Oh wait...was that a promise?   ;)

 Cornchip.

Thanks Bender, but unless I am missing something after reading that (and other threads) it doesn't look like anyone has the shafts needed for U360's (ball top) ... and nobody has the shaft for U360's (BAT top) -- including the BAT top.

Sorry to hear about that Cornchip. Today's economy is not fun for anyone (except of course the people with extreme wealth who are all fighting over how best to help us peons!). Good luck and keep the chin up on the job front. :)

Maybe I will see about trying to do this myself, although I am not even sure where to start to get the machined parts for the thicker diameter BAT top center shaft needed to make this thing a go. I am surprised that this isn't more of a desired thing, especially for the BAT U360's.

At this point I would even settle for BALL top shafts to at least light these U360's up if I could find some.

I wonder if the lizard-man's replacement shaft (with drilled hollow center) would work?

Sanwa JL-S9F Shaft

$19.95/ea

Anyone know about these for fit w/in U360? Will the magnet for the U360 stick to the metal or is the shaft non-metallic?

You can use those shafts but you will need to cut a slot into the e-clip groove to allow the wires to come though the gap in the e-clip when the magnet is in place.

I made some polished brass shafts for somunny's Ark project. I milled a 2mm slot into the groove for the wires:

As brass inst ferrous the magnet wouldn't stick to the shaft so I machined the shafts so that the magnets are a press fit. I'm not sure what material the lizard lick shafts are made from. The standard shafts are plated mild steel so that magnet does stick, If the lizardlick shafts are not made from a ferrous material (i.e. non ferrous stainless) then you would have the same issue.

I'm intending to carry on with my four pole free spinning solution after Christmas once I have the girlfriends juke box out of the way.
