Frontend issues while running at 632x264
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:47:45 pm »
I am setting up a MAME machine and the "Largest" resolution that I can get to come up on the Arcade monitor is 632x264. I am using Soft 15KHz.

I would like to use Mala, but I have more experience with MameWah.

I cannot find any layouts for 632x264.

Is there something that I am overlooking?  :dunno

That's an odd resolution. You would have to make your own or modify one of the existing layouts using the Mamewah Layout Editor. Here's a small tutorial I made in case your not familiar with the Layout Editor. Just double click on it to start playing it.

I agree that it is an odd resolution, but am I missing something that is forcing me to use that one. When I switch to 640x480 the screen will not stabilize.

thanks for the movie link

I played around a lot more and I got the screen to work at 640x240 which seems to be a more common setting.

Now though when I start a game the resolutions that it picks do not seem to work.

I'm not familiar with soft15khz since I use a pc monitor. You might have your resolution set to "Auto".
Try asking in the Soft15khz thread over in the Video Forum.

I am pretty convinced it is not a soft 15KHz issue.

No, but it might be a mame ini issue.

Front end issue fixed - Pac-Man and varients getting bottom of maze cut off.

so just an update.
I have pretty much fixed all of the problems now except for one.

When I am running games like Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man the bottom of the maze seems to be below the visible bottom of the screen. I cannot see the bottom 1/4 or so of the screen - this happens only when the actual game starts.

I have been using the res-tool to create resolution ini files for every game. I have gone in and modified those ini files with all kinds of variations and it still cuts off the bottom of the maze.

Other games seem to play fine I tried out about 15 or so other games. For now it seems like just the Pac-Man and Pac-Man type games seem to have this issue.

Any ideas?
