4ghz & NFL Blitz
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:19:18 pm »
I have just joined the 4ghz club, and have successfully played my first game of Blitz.   ;D

I am however having problems getting Blitz2k and Blitz 99 to go from team selection to the actual game.  It seems that it is going to run fine- no hiccups in the sound or anything, then it gets hung up on the load screen between team selection and gameplay.  (see pic of blitz 2k)

Anyone else had this problem?

I am running Mame64 128u3 on a Vista64 machine (core 2 duo E8500)

I have the same set up as you and the sound still shutters for me with blitz period.

Follow these instructions (seriously...strange as it is)...this works for Blitz 99 and 2K...

Load the game... when the game comes up hold down button 1 or 4 ...I can't remember which...it's the one that makes the screens skip to the next screen in the attract...you can also wait if you'd like,  but it takes a lot longer.  Once the game comes up with gameplay in attract,  THEN coin up and it will let you play.

I don't know why this happens,  but it does...

BTW: I only get sound hiccups when the four "shields" come down between gameplay screens and once in a while during "intermissions" in gameplay.  I don't think I ever get sound hiccups in gameplay itself.

Make sure you're running MAME 64-bit if you're running a 64 bit OS.  I go about a 30% framerate boost going from XP running MAME to XP x64 running MAME 64-bit compile.

I'm Jealous that you guys can even get it to work.

But for now, I use the Dreamcast version and it runs flawlessly (using NullDC).

I will have to give you little tip a try... I really wish someone would cater a emu to these kind of game like they did with Zinc and such.

model2 64 comes out

The Model 2 Emulator has a MultiCPU version that takes advantage of a multi core CPU. Not 64-bit but at least it can take advantage of newer CPU's.

Hehe,
Glad to see peeps sharing my tip I put out awhile ago to get the game running  Now if they would work on the bugs that would be awsome. I submitted it to Mantis. In the meantime I bought the boards and I play that way

Hmmm... Blitz is not a Model 2 game though.
