Act-Labs Gun with Arcade Monitor
« on: June 18, 2003, 03:33:07 am »
I have an existing cabinet with a standard resolution arcade monitor in it (very close to a standard TV).  I'm planning on using it with an ArcadeVGA card (from Ultimarc).  I'd like to be able to use it with a pc light gun, but I'm unsure if the Act-Labs gun (VGA or TV version) will work with such a setup.  I'd be nice if I could get two working in this setup also.

Is anyone using the Act-Labs gun with an arcade monitor?  Does anyone know if this is possible?

The VGA version of the Act Labs gun requires a 31Khz VGA Monitor.   The TV Out version requires an S-Video pass through.   Neither will work on arcade monitors.

Yes, yes; many people have gotten it working with arcade monitors. It is the standard PC USB Lightgun. There are some threads on this in my forum over at MAMEROOM. Some monitors work... some don't... something like that...

yup, some do some dont

btw, my Cybervision 17" svga monitor doesn't work

my Eygo 27" industrial monitor does...

So not all normal monitors work either.

They have a money back guarantee... So buy it... and return it if needed...

Sound advice.
They don't work on Sun monitors... even the Multisync ones...

I wonder if it would work via ArcadeVGA to my scart TV?  Perhaps I should put my gun back together and try it  ::)

Do Suns hzave the same pinouts? I thought I remembered them having a different pinout to the monitor.

Thanks again for your help guys!  ;)  I looks like I'll need the VGA version (not TV), however I'll probably wait for their two gun version (due later this year according to their tech support).  I wish it was sooner.  :(
