Unnamed 4 player scratch build
« on: November 11, 2008, 07:22:21 pm »
Figured I'd make a thread on my project. It is almost done, only needs artwork. It has been in its current state since mid-August when I went back to school (but yeah, it is in my dorm  :P)

Pictures:

I'll update it later with newer pictures after I get them off my camera.

Looking good; I take it from the pictures you are going to have interchangable controls 1 player and 4 players?

here is the cab as it is now:

I should have started the thread earlier to build the suspense, but I was working on it over the summer in addition to working 10 hours a day. I spent most of my time on the forum doing research instead of posting.

Shoutouts: Saint for his awesome book, all the various legends on the board here from whom I drew inspiration, my girlfriend, brothers and mother for helping me whenever they could, all the rest of you for the wealth of information and guidance you give to noobs like me.

I'm still working on control panel art and marquee; haven't really decided on a theme yet. I also am thinking about replacing the second player joystick with another j-stick and making a posterboard bezel or something similar so you can't see the blocks holding the smoked plexi on.

It does have 2 control panels. One is a 4 player and the other is a defender/stargate layout. The plug into the ipac using DB25 connectors. I never use the defender one; it is kind of a pain to switch them. I'll be turning the defender one into a PC control panel and giving it as a gift to my brothers.

That's a very nice job. At first glance the gold molding looked funny, but I was wrong. It looks great!!
