Wanted: unpopulated circuit boards
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:08:13 pm »
Howdy-

I'm whipping up some geeky lightweight shelving & I need these to span across 2 bars & support just a few lb.

I need 4 circuit boards, preferably unpopulated, or perhaps populated somewhat evenly w/ low-profile items (I could remove handfuls of high items, but I don't want to strip an entire board...).

Size: about 10"x10".  Can be a bit bigger & I can cut it down.  Or I could use 8 skinner pieces that are 2-6" x 10" or so.

Some options I've come across so far:

or

look as if they would do fine.

Or, I could go w/ those PCB 3-ring binders or clipboards or notebooks & hack them, though that would be a shame to bust up a finished product made from junk, when I actually just want the junk in the first place...  Actually, the 3-ring binder is probably a good option, as each one has 2 10.25"X11.5" panels that should be very easy to remove from the skinny central panel, which has all the binder hardware in it...

Any other ideas?  Anybody got junked PCBS lying around that I can snag from ya?

Thanks,
-Jason

If you don't find what you want here, you could always raid your local thrift store for older electronics and get what you need that way.  :)

Or do it free and raid your local town transfer station... they'll usually let you take electronics away free so long as you take it whole.
