WG D9200 "Focus" question
« on: March 05, 2002, 12:05:18 am »
In the specs for the WG D9200, it says it has controls for "focus".  Does this mean that you can actually soften/sharpen the picture?  I'd like to soften the look of Mame and maybe hide the MPEG artifacts in Daphne a little.  TVs are TOO soft though, and windows is damn near unusable on one.  Plus, that irritating interlace flicker gives me an itchy rash!  :P

I think the focus knob is attched to the flyback transformer (forgive me if it's not called that on a raster monitor, but it does the same job).

I'll be sure to wear oven mitts, rubber boots, and use an insulated screwdriver.  A verrry looong screwdriver!  :-X

For everyone's information, ALL monitors and television sets have a focus control. The control is usually located on the flyback transformer. The focus voltage is actually 4,000 volts DC. The picture tube itself operates on approx. 20,000 volts DC.
