Hi y'all, has anyone tried one of these?
(look halfway down the page)

I really like the convenience of the wiring harness and it's less costly than the other alternatives, I-Pac, Keywiz etc.
I really hate wiring cabs!
I may be the guinea pig on this one!

Interesting...  looks like a keyboard hack in a project box.

They do claim no ghosting or blocking...

If it works like they say, that's pretty nice.  $36 shipped to the US.  You should try it!  ;D

I visited the BYOAC Wiki and it claims that these are available on the board (couldn't find them on ebay).  Anyone here have them?  I'd just as well buy here as elsewhere, "supporting the board" ya know!

These come up as a topic of discussion every once in a while.....I bought one of these a while back to test because my gut told me it was just a keyboard hack in a project box and that the claims were false.  I should have just trusted my gut and saved the money.

You really can do much, much better for just a little more money / effort.

Review it for us, please!
The bottom line is did it work?
As I said I really hate wiring cabs and paying extra for a harness is just not an option!
Just asking and weighing my options, I don't wanna get the thing, find it's piss poor quality and then wish I would have simply paid someone to kick me in the nads instead, I hate when that happens!

As Randy said its a keyboard hack in a project box so it will have all the problems that come with one.

Steer clear. If you want a pre wired encoder use something like the Ultimarc Minipac. I would also recommend a GGG product but I don't think there is a pre wired one. Any plans for one Randy?

I have considered it on many an occasion, but I usually end up at the "one size does not fit all" problem.  Most folks will do a very neat wiring job on their panels, and that means wires of the correct length.  With wires that are pre-terminated (i.e. already have connectors attached) this is impossible to achieve.

I may put one out eventually anyway, but it's not something I think will have the same broad appeal as just a board with screw terminals and offering pre-terminated wires of specific lengths that can be trimmed (or not) as needed.  That one is going to be more likely ;).

I can atest to the goodness of the MiniPAC.  It really makes hooking up a control panel very easy.  No need to make a bunch of ends, they are all done for you and much better than a keyboard hack.   Very easy to program with the software and enough connections for most 2 player CP's.
