Can control #2 be wired as #2 and #1?
« on: October 27, 2008, 09:35:00 pm »
Good day everyone! Many of the games we play are two player games but only use one common joystick so players have to change sides all the times instead of playing side by side.

I just wondered if it's possible to have player two joystick wired as player 1 AND player 2?

Thanks!

.....in all the time I've been playing Mame, such games are always handled by player 1 stick, as there was only one on the original hardware. Yours is a strange case.

two player games but only use one common joystick

As in two player games where each player takes turns alternating between player one and player two? (one player at a time)

If that's the case then yes, you should be able to just re-map the controls in each game that you are referring to. Re-map player two joystick to match player ones.

But if the "other guy" decides to grab ahold of the joystick while you are playing then obviously he'll take control and throw a game off real fast.
