Maximus Arcade users
« on: October 23, 2008, 12:51:42 pm »
I just got Maximus Arcade going and I'm loving it.

The only thing I can't figure out is how to add more games to my game list after the list has been edited and titles renamed. I don't want to have to redo the whole list just to add a few roms.

Anyone have a quick solution?

Thanks

Are you saying that you don't want it to do the rescan when you restart? You just want to force a game or two in there, right?

There probably is a way to do that, but I only know of the force rescan option.

Well, it's a bit convoluted, but you could use RomLister to create the list of Roms you want to add. It can output to the MA format. You can then import that list into whatever list you want to add them too.

That *should* work.

I'm not sure... but doesn't Maximus scan and store the lists in an xml file<?>.  If it does, you could just replicate a section of the file to add games.
... Why is it that you always find it in the last place that you look? ...

Here's a quick workaround:

-  In the Preferences menu, make a new list called "Favorites" (or whatever else you want to name it).
-  Import the "Games" list into the "Favorites" list.
-  Save it.
-  Exit the Preferences menu and go back to the Front end.
-  Rescan MAME (right click anywhere in the menu within the frontend while it's running and select "rescan")

In the frontend while it's running, make sure you are in your "games" list in MAME.
-  "add" the added game which now appears in the games list to your "favorites" list.  Do this by pressing the "6" button on your keyboard (Add favorite).  A menu will come up.  Hit enter to add it to your list of choice (in this case "favorites" or whatever you named it.
-  Modify the name of the game in the in Preferences menu ("favorites" list)

Rinse and Repeat.
(P.S. - back up your MA directory before you attempt this, just in case)
