4 way joystick to 8 way joystick
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:25:20 pm »
I know there are ways to convert an 8 way joystick to 4 way.
but is there any way to do the reverse?

I am inheriting a 4 way, and wonder if I can convert it to 8 way?
Buy microswitches?
Change or remove a restrictor plate?

4-ways and 8-ways have the same number of microswitches.  The difference is the physical restriction on a 4-way so that two can't be hit at the same time.

Without knowing what type of 4-way it is, I'd say leave it as is and just get a cheap 8-way (like a Happs Super, for example).  It'd be much easier and you can sell the 4-way if you really don't need/want it.
