Control Panel Idea
« on: June 15, 2003, 08:07:42 am »
Hey guys.  I wanted to toss an idea I had for my control panel and see what you guys thought of it.

I wanted to slap hinges on the front of the control panel and hinge it to the cab.  There is an overhang, and I'll paint the hinges, so visibility isn't a problem.

My idea is to make the control adjustable in the front.  Some of my friends are taller and have difficulty with where the controls are.  So I was thinking you could pull the control panel back a little, adjusting the angle of it with the hinges, and secure it somehow with dow rods underneath or something.  Anyone ever try something like this or have an opinion?

It is probably not neccesary. Real machines didn't have this, and yet people played them anyway. Did you accidently build your machine too tall or too short or something?

Trouble I can see is this:

You alter the height / angle to suit your taller friends, but then you want a go, and it is uncomfortable for you now so you have to adjust it back.  It could become a pain...

Stools are a more practical solution to your problem.  Adjustable stools if necessary.
