Any good sites to order quick connectors for micro switches like the ones used in the Happs Super joystick and buttons?
I tried Radio Shack, but all they seemed to have were assortments of different connectors in one pack.

Also, what is the best size to use?
Thanks.

try TheRealBobRoberts.com

$4 or $5 for a 50 pack... maybe $6 shipping. .187"
Buy more than you need, just in case.

RadioShack.com used to have a 100pk for like $9, but its been pulled from their site.

You can get them pretty cheap at Home Depot, over in the wiring section, by like the lighting and stuff. They're there with all the butt connectors and twist-on connectors.

My local home depots (checked more than one) only have the 0.250, not the 0.187 ones.  Other people's home depots may differ.  You can slip the 0.250 females over the 0.187 males, but not quite as tight a fit.  *shrug*

I bought all mine at home depot as well.  As u_rebelscum pointed out, the closest they come is #22-#18AWG for size. these you will find are reasonable close to the right size...some fit nice and snug, others you may need to squeeze with a pair of needle nose...but hey for less than $9.00 for a box of 100 fully shielded connectors (and not have to wait for them to be shipped)...I'll tweek a few.

Yeah, I used the bigger ones in my first cab, but I'm in less of a hurry for this one. Plus when you squeeze the bigger ones with a pliars, they fit tight but are harder to take off.

Actually a good trick for these is to use a crimper and crimp down the center "fin" on the top of the connector.  This way the connector slides on and off easy, but the crimped fin catches in the hole on the microswitch tab.  If that makes any sense... :)

I picked up mine at a local electrical / lighting store. They had the .187 ones. I got a huge box of 200 or something for less than $10. (All female ones.)

www.mcmelectronics.com has several sizes insulated and non-insulated.  Another guy and I bought 10 packs of 100 for $3.06 a pack I believe.  Fewer packs and the price goes up slightly.  They had a deal when we ordered to buy a certain dollar amount or over and get free shipping.

You'll want .187 for standard push buttons and joysticks.  Some use .250.  We got the insulated.

well i find that the .187 female quick connects are good, but for one wire at a time only.  not good if you are daisy-chaining quick connects for ground since you have to fit two 18 gauge in there...

since i have the 18 gauge to use for the daisy-chained ground, i ended up using the .250 fully insulated for 16-14 gauge wires, twisted up two 18 gauge wires and slipped those in and crimped.  then i used pliers to bend and "crunch" the LIP end some so it will snuggly fit the microswitches' connection LIP.
Best Regards,

I daisy chained pairs of 18AWG to my grounds...it took time, but I cut 3 strands from every end prior to splicing the wires to the connectors...I was in no big hurry, so this worked our great for me

When I went to Home Depot the first time for the .187's about 6 months ago they did not carry them.  Now they do for some reason, I've bought them there a few times over the past few months (I can't stop wiring).  As for crimping, spend $7-$10 and by a crimping tool, it will be the best money you spent.  Trying to crimp with plain old pliers is a pain and doesn't work all the time.  The crimping tool takes all the guessing and problems out of it.

:) Rotate or die! :)

Gauge has nothing to do with the tab size, except whether or not the store carries a certain combination or not.

I have .187 tab, 22-18 ga. quick connectors for the N.O. wiring, and .187 tab, 16-14 qa. quick connectors for the daisy chained GND wiring.  Also, some of my switches use .250, so I also have .250 in both 22-18 and 16-14 guage sizes.  The 22-18 guage has red plastic covers, the 16-14 guage are blue.

If your local electronics has both sizes, and you use 18 gauge wires, I suggest getting both sizes.  It really made daisy chaining a lot easier.  FWIW, I got most my .187, 16-14 ga from Fry's Electronics, IIRC; radio shack didn't have this combo.
