Pinouts for GP-Wiz49 Eco 49-Way ribbon Cable?
« on: October 09, 2008, 03:55:29 pm »
Hey there, I purchased a GP-Wiz49 Eco No Soldier 49-Way Joystick USB Interface about 2 years ago. I never used any of the button functions in the device because I had 2 other USB interfaces for the buttons.

I've decided to put a rotary swtich on my CP to switch between joymodes for my 49 way stick but I can't find the pinouts for the ribbon cable anywhere.

Does anyone have them? the 49 way eco board appears to be discontinued on the GGG site and there is no documentation available that lists this there.

Also, Is there a way to set this into "rotary mode" i read something on a website somewhere which indicated you could use buttons 1 through 8 as dedicated rotary switch buttons so you won't have to press the joymode button to switch modes.

Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you are looking for.  But to be sure, what is the name printed on the PCB?

Thats what I was looking for! thanks!

I'm at work at the moment but I believe its a GP-Wiz 49 ECO "No Soldier" version. It uses an IDE cable which I purchased separately, the first 8 or so wires go to the 49 way stick and the other wires were all just kinda going nowhere.

I've decided to add a rotary switch to change joymodes and wasn't sure what the pinouts were on the ribbon cable. I should be able to figure it out with this.

One other question, is there anything special I have to use to enable "rotary mode" so I don't have to press the joymode button?

I was just going to put a small button right next to the rotary dial and I assumed I'd have to press it every time I switched modes. do I need to do this?

Thanks for your time Randy!

Hmm I must be missing something. I've hooked up the rotary switch, its a 2 pole 6 position switch i'm using at the moment.

now if I go into the control panel and look at this joystick it shows buttons perma pressed down depending on which position the switch is in.

I guess my question is how does the board detect that a rotary switch is connected?

Probably best to move this to email.  It's been a while so I need to go back through my notes on this one.
