27" TV suggestions
« on: October 02, 2008, 09:38:24 pm »
I just inherited a 27" Sony Trinitron TV and am inclined to use it in a project. The thing is, I'm not sure what to do with it. I've already built a SF2 cab so I've got hoizontal fighter games covered. I was thinking about a vertically oriented cab, or a cocktail, but the monitor seems a bit too bit. Can anyone suggest a machine that uses a 27" monitor or have any ideas how I can use this thing? I'm not really coming up with any ideas on my own.

I think a vertical cab would be the way to go.  With a 27" TV it would most likely not fit horizontally unless maybe you remove the plastic case.  Mounted vertically though, would give you more room.

you said you horizontal one was used for fighter games... why not build anouther but for every other sort of game. have a trackball, spinner, light guns etc but don't bother with six buttons per player coz that is what your other cab is for, you don't want to make it redundant  ;)

I have a Capcom Impress that uses a 29" monitor, mounted horizontally.

Sit-down driving cab baby.  Throw a Logitech G25 on there and you've got gas, brake, clutch, gear shifter, best force feedback wheel ever created and it's compatible with both the PC and PS3.  Build that and you'll find the standup cab getting hardly any attention anymore.  :)

You could check out TOK's vert cab - although a driver cab could be cool, too.

I have a Capcom Impress that uses a 29" monitor, mounted horizontally.

I don't get this one, man.

He asked if there was a machine that used a 27" monitor.  I named one that had a monitor larger than that...
