What are the footprint dimensions of these items?
« on: June 13, 2003, 09:59:59 pm »
I'm designing my blueprint. All of the controls will be represented by rectangles. I need footprint dimensions accurate enough so that the lines of the rectangles could touch eachother and there wouln't be any problems. I tried going to happcontrols, but their diagrams are a little confusing. Thanks.

2 1/4" Red Trackball with Atari TB 2 1/4" mounting plate
Happ Super 8-way

Happs regular horizonal and competition horizonal pushbuttons are 1 5/16" 1 3/8" across.

Are they 1 5/6" across both ways?

If I were to have a square shaped 1 5/6" peg, would I be able to push the button all the way through it?

I modified my original measurement.  When mounted in a control panel the visible buttons are 1 5/16" across; however, the plastic nut that screws on the bottom of the button is slightly wider.  You'll need 1 3/8" to mount each button.  The button itself would go through a 1 3/8" wide square shaped peg with the nut attached but it won't with the microswitch attached.  You can turn the microswitches different directions and be able to mount buttons extremely close to each other.

I'm not sure that footprint is the right word. Let me rephrase the question.

You have four 2 1/4" trackballs, mounted with an Atari 2 1/4" mounting plate. You are going to make 2 CPs. One of them is CP X. You are going to put two of the trackballs in it, side by side, as close together as possible. How far apart would the centers of the two trackballs be? Your answer will be the X dimension of the footprint.

You have four 2 1/4" trackballs, mounted with an Atari 2 1/4" mounting plate. You are going to make 2 CPs. One of them is CP Y. You are going to put two of the trackballs in it, one on top of the other, as close together as possible. How far apart would the centers of the two trackballs be? Your answer will be the Y dimension of the footprint.

Repeat for the following items:
Ms Pacman/Galaga Joy 4-way with Oscar joystick mounting plate
Happ Super 8-way
Happ Microswitch pushbutton
