Annoying noob with annoying questions... sorry
« on: September 27, 2008, 10:32:22 pm »
Hi there, long time lurker, first time poster.
Was wondering if i could pick your brains?
Picked up a soul edge cabinet today. It's in good condition & is all working. I bought it for a mame conversion.
I plan to add an extra 2 buttons to each player & on researching the subject I decided that an Arcade VGA & Jpac would be the way to go. However, am i correct in thinking that this cab is not jamma compatible (system 11?)? Is there a jamma converter i could buy to enable me to use a Jpac? Am i a blithering idiot?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It's JAMMA .... System 11 refers to the original pcb hardware.

Soul Edge Manual

And whats more embarrasing is that I got the original manual with it, & I've read it, & still didn't know.
So I am an idiot.
Cheers mate :-)
Does this mean i can just plug jamma games into it then?
If so I think I'll rethink the mame thing.
Thanks again

Yep, you are correct.  However, some games may need to be adjusted, since the buttons in some Jamma games differ slightly.

Actually, thinking on, I think I'll go with my original mame idea. The whole jamma process looks a bit technical for somene of my very limited ability. & it looks pretty simple to add a couple of buttons using the jpac & the arcadevga looks like a godsend!
I've just took a look in the back & found the original manual & warranty card for the Hantarex 28" monitor which i thought pretty cool.
PS
I also have an empty HOTD2 mirrored cab which i plan to turn into my shooter, & I pick up my empty daytona sit down cab next week which I've already have a 29inch crt for and i plan to turn into an xbox/mame racer. Now I just need to find a suitable cab for a vertical setup.
Or maybe i should just finish what I have? :-)
Will post some pics later.
Thanks again peeps.
