help, i went wrong somewhere along the way
« on: September 25, 2008, 03:02:45 pm »
i want to add a little admin panel with buttons right below the tv screen like so.....

the problem is, the admin panel has to be about 3/4 in from the edge which means iam going to have a hole between my control panel and the admin panel. not really sure what i should do from here any ideas?

dont mind all the scratch marks it has to be repainted once i figure out this problem

Without knowing why its going to be pretty pointless to throw out ideas.

i tried a big admin panel, and it looked very out of place which is why i wanted to stay with somthing smaller.

it has to be 3/4 in from the edge because that is the way everything else on the cabinet is spaced.
(marquee, speaker panel, top)

Only thing you can do now is burn it to the ground and start over.

Sorry. Good luck on the next one.

I would think the gap looks even more out of place?

Can you miter two blocks together to keep  the one you show there basically in place, and just fill the gap below it with some painted wood?

is the problem that there is not enough room for the back side of the buttons because its too close to the TV?

You can always try taking the back of the TV case off (watch the flyback transformer!) and give you a little more space up front to squeeze the buttons in.

Or use smaller (japanese or other) buttons.

Why not hidden admin buttons?

Or use these:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062510&cp=&sr=1&kw=pushbutton&origkw=pushbutton&parentPage=search

It's a momentary contact small pushbutton - I have one wired up as the power button for my Mame cab. They also sell it in black.
