Which MAME should I use on this setup?
« on: September 25, 2008, 02:20:21 pm »
Hey folks,

I just got my new parts to build my MAME PC (to go in my new cabinet I'm building).  I was contemplating putting Windows Vista on it since I have an extra copy of the OS.  I'm not sure if anyone is having any problems with Vista and MAME? Anyone here using the combo?

The specs of the PC are Athlon 64 5000+ CPU with 2 Gig RAM and 750 Gig HD.

What version of MAME do you think I should run on this setup?

Will I run into issues with Vista?  I don't have a copy of XP at the moment, but I'm comfortable with Ubuntu.  That's probably the route I would go if Vista doesn't work.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I'd just run the latest version.

That's what I was hoping to do.   I have it running on my Pentium D 3.0 Ghz with 4 Gig RAM with a very bloated version of XP and everything runs good.

Anyone use Vista with the newest version of MAME? Any issues there?

Look over at MameWorld, it's a frequent kind of topic.
