i am thinking of putting together a 48" long control panel..made just for 2 players

i have tried the x-arcade dual joystick and its a joke an a half there is no way to grown men can play that thing i have problems with elbows bumping each in the 2nd palyer..

i have 2 choices for my control panel..

build one giant massive 2 player panel or buy 2 xarcade solos and use it like that..

has anyone else built a massive panel like this before?>

and to answer the original question yes people have made big panels before, but shall we say, people do take the piss out of them.
don't let it put you off the place though, everyone here will help and advise you even though the first thing they'll say is don't do it that big ;)

4 feet for 2 people? What's your daily pie intake?

I understand your need for room no matter how and where you intend to use it, but how are you supposed to store that away easily? You really won't need that much space - trust us on that one, but if you are using them sitting down (perched in front of a TV or something) then you may do better to use two seperate ones if you want elbow room. It's a different story standing up at a dedicated cabinet as there aren't knees, elbows etc. sticking out as much. Measure ana average cabinet and you will see dedicated machines managed two players in much less space without cramping.

I've played two players comfortably for hours on one of our upright machines, which has a control panel width of just 21". Even our bar-top at 16.5" wide is comfortable for two for shorter periods.

I have a 25" panel with trackball and 2-player (6-button) setup and never had problems with elbows.  And I'm a fairly big dude.

I would go with two X-Arcade solos if it's for a sit down.   One long panel would be hard to store.

The X-Arcade XXL (I think that's what it's called) is another option if you don't want to go the two solos route.

mine is 42" wide two player 6 button with a trackball in the middle and very comfortable.

if it were any smaller it would not have fit the trackball and two grown-ups would be smashed together for sure.

48" is a little to big plus if you make it that big make it must disconnect from the cab with ease or it will not fit through the door.

mine the top and bottom come undone if needed otherwise it would not fit in a standard door either.

I also use a 26" nanao and a large based cab so it all goes good but if it is a 19" cab with a cp that size it may be front heavy tipsy   :o

You could design the panel to flip over and become a guest bed.

It would be big enough for Michael Scott to sleep on! ;D
