the jakobud site is down, where to find CAD-format plans?
« on: September 09, 2008, 08:43:19 pm »
I can't seem to find anywhere else that has CAD format plans. Im in an engineering class for a high school/college dual credit this year and we get to play with CAD (Actually Inventor, but they are made by the same company) pretty often. I would like to have a couple sets of 3D cabinet plans to mess around with and use to learn the program. I'm mostly looking to find Donkey Kong and Ms Pac/Galaga style cabinets. With the Jakobud site being parked I can't find them anywhere else...

Man, am I glad I just downloaded most of his plans last week, just in case something like this happened. Too bad they're all the JPEG versions, though.

Yeah, I have a bunch of jpeg too. I wasn't anticipating access to this program...

man, this blows.  Does anyone know if the site is going to be down permanently?

If so, and if anyone has all of the plans get in touch with me  - I can host them permanently on my site - http://www.thechumbucket.org/files/

I'll make a category for them and put them up.  I own my own server and it shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. ;)

As i recall it, the plans from Jakobud is "only" 2D. None the less they are of great help.

I have a mirror here:

http://mirrors.arcadecontrols.com/www.jakobud.com/

which hasn't been updated in a while, and will come down if/when Jakobud says to take it down.

It does major. I got a few of his plans, but not all of them. Now I'm regretting "being nice to his bandwidth" and should have tried to download more. I just did a whois and it's got no registrant. I'm hoping it's something as simple as a domain name change or he forgot to pay his registrant bill. That's the only reason I can think of for the GoDaddy parking.

I tried to be (sort-of) nice and only DL'ed a few per day when I first found the site... I've got about 140 EPS files below that I think are from the Jakobud site; let me know if anyone needs me to up them to an archive...

Okay somehow my nameserver settings go messed up when I was transfering the domain.  Didn't even realize it until I saw this on here.  I think I got them updated correctly.  Might take some time for the changes to apply.

And for future reference, I'm not like 100% into the BYOAC scene like I was a few years ago, but I keep an eye on it.  So don't expect Jakobud.com to just disappear forever someday.  I'll let everyone know well ahead of time if that was to happen.  Cheers

Okay the nameservers are now pointing to the correct server and it's back up and running again.

Eh... don't look too hard for new things on Jakobud.com.  Haven't added any arcade plans for a couple years now....  Sorry its just not something I've had time for in a while.  I probably will again someday though.
