LaserRot's Ultimate Arcade Dimensions???
« on: June 11, 2003, 09:30:44 am »
Hello! I?m looking for the dimensions of a Showcase cabinet, to be more specific, I?m looking for the dimensions of LaserRot's Ultimate Arcade, I downloaded a couple of scans of the cabinet?s manual long ago, but they had no dimensions on them. I have been looking for the web page for this guy and it seems to be a broken link. Could anyone help me out with dimensions for this kind of cabinet? Does anyone know where can I contact Laser Rot or find a web page with a similar project?????

Thanks!!!!

There a picture of LaserRot's Ultimate Arcade below that I got while ago, as far as I know this is what they call a Showcase cabinet.

jhsmith321,

Mate I have to say that I I would be very interested in finding these dimensions as well... as it is a beautiful machine. Unfortunately, I can't exactly help you (I have no idea of the exact dimensions). All I can do is pass on some links that I have for the Showcase (Although I don't think that they are that relevant to you).

http://www.americanvending.com/html/amusement/misc/cabinet/showcase.htm

http://www.geocities.com/gamezink/arcade.html

http://www.highway.net.au/parts/cabinets/1430.html

The other thing that I can share is that there is a gentleman on this board by the name of Taz... if memory serves me correctly. He created his own look a like of the Showcase and has provided his own dimensions and plans. The problem from memory is that it is not a spot on accurate reproduction... I think overall that it was a little smaller in size. I can't remember the exact link for his site... but you may be able to track him down. If you don't have any luck and are still interested in taking a look at his plans I could possibly ask a mate up north in a different city to go to a computer of mine there and send down a copy of Taz's plans which I think I have saved and send them on to you. Anything that can help.

But, mate I have to say that I would love to build a showcase as well... its a dream that I have in mind. So if someone lives near one and didnt mind obtaining some dimensions to share then that would be sensational. They are not that common in Australia... so it makes it difficult, mind you that is not too bad a deal for that third link in terms of Australian dollars to US dollars. I think one guy on her paid about 800-900 USD for a Showcase and this look a like gamemaster is fully working in Australia for about $500 USD.

Good luck jhsmith321!

-Alex

have you ever made a scale drawing?  all you need is a reference measurement use milimeters or something. take measurements on the picture, then scale it to a good size for yourself.  that's how I managed to layout my supercade copy before jeff was kind enough to post his measurements for it.
you should be able to to get reasonable close enough that it won't be noticable.

if you think about it, those buttons are about 1 1/4" diameter...shouldn't be too hard to generate your own plans
