Anyone used CD stud welding?
« on: August 30, 2008, 02:13:49 pm »
I'm thinking about making a panel out of metal. I'd rather not have the bolts visible from the top of the panel. I was reading about Capacitive Discharge stud welding. It sounds perfect for sheet metal. Has anyone had their panel made with these? The equipment is too expensive for DIY ($2400 for a small welder), but I thought  I might find a local welding or sign shop that could do it for me.

Here's a description of CD stud welding.
