PS2/Other Controllers and MAME
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:16:31 am »
I did some searching and found a bunch of for sale threads and info threads about wireless monitors and T2 360 arcade games.

What I want to know is, who has ps2/other controllers connected to their cabs?

Can I see pics?

I have my dynamo nearly complete but I have a couple emulators and some will not work very well with the button layout and joystick IE SNES/PSX games.

I'd like to see how it was implimented (maybe just have a cable that comes out from the coin door?

Create a "slot" in the front panel and plug the controllers in that way?

I'm not really sure and I don't want to do ANY cutting until I figure out how I'll do this.

I have all my cabs in storage now . I am a new grandpa now. needed space for baby stuff.

I had several ways I did mine.
all usb hubs. one was in the coin door.
another cab hub was under CP ( cut inti the wood)

now I just have a PC monitor on top of a OLD and I mean OLD 52 inch projection TV

PC set up on top.
Peg board nailed to wood strips on the wall
hooks hold my game pads ( I have 4 pups ) chew on EVERY DARN THING  :banghead:

I have NES, Super NES , NU64 , PS2 , Sega Genesis game pads hooked up a 4 port pci slot usb hub and also a 4 port external usb hub

I had a round Kitchen table we no longer used.  I cut the legs down to fit as high as the 52 inch screen (same height as the speakers)

this now holds my arcade CP's , and 2 sidewinder steering wheels and a flight yoke I use for starwars

In short ... USB hubs cut into the cab is best. Low on the sides of cab is good. or if CP is big enough under the CP is good.
Inside coin door sucks.

best to keep game pads pluged in at all times. Windows likes to change game pad #s on you.  keep them pluged in at all times was my work around this problem.

That's some good information.

I currently have a dynamo cab so it's a steel CP, not sure how I'll cut that.  either way I hope to have a nice setup.

if you have  dollar tree around your house.
thay have usb extentions for $1 dollar each.
these work just fine , even on a printer. 5 cords is as far as I have hooked together but my printer still worked fine that far a way.
I do not know how many you can hook up before signal gets week.
I remember Tech TV (Scren Savers) did something like 50 feet  :dizzy:

Lowes has a metal hole saw for like $10.00 maybe $15.00
get some small (auto vacume hose) slice it down the middle
put this over your hole (to protect your usb wire or any small kids who will eventually sneek back there.)
that is how I would do it. also later on you can find a metal plug to cover up hole if you ever wanted to

I found a thread in software forum. There is several programs that will find all the USA roms. (I also told it to find English) and only the files that had "!" mark meens known to be a perfect dumped rom)
I have got my roms down to a few 100 each.
but now I play a game and If we think it was a keeper . I started a list on the PC of the games we like.
seems like maybe 10 to 15 games on each system

the emu,s I use are
Nestopia = NES
ZSNES = Super Nes
Project 64 = Nu64
Fusion = Master and Genesis
magic engine =TG16

That's not a bad idea and the software sounds badass.

Is it clrmamepro?  I haven't learned how to use that but I should.
Let me know if you fin that program, and I myself didn't use a anything, I got the whole pack and went through each individual game and selected what I want and got the screenshots(torrent) for it.

Also, I was thinking of just having the connections for the controllers sit in the coin door so they're not sticking out and just leave 2 controllers in the bucket.

Thing is I have a PS2 controller to usb adapter that accepts 2 controllers.  I'd kind of like to have those plugs be visible and just plug 'em in....

Bah I haven't thought about this enough, but I'm sure I will come up with something.

I think the program I used was ungood merge
I could be wrong (i will do a search in software forum)
topic I think was sort console roms

I live In kentucky .... Football season starts in 2 hrs
UK VS U of L  :cheers:
keg party time  :cheers:

the coin door will hit your knees often if you are sitting on a bar stool.

I have been working on my console system for a few years now.

thats why I did not mind packing up my cabs. I have had a PC on my TV's for a long time.... I did not want to hide it was a PC doing the work. I wanted to show that off  :angel:
