Noob needs help. First mame cab attempt!!
« on: August 20, 2008, 03:20:00 am »
HI
I just got my arcade vga and j-pac after connecting it to a pc and then to my cabinet Ive run into a couple of small issues.

1. The first issue is no sound So I guess I need a powered soundblaster card because removing the cabinet speakers is definately out of the question.  e Are there any other options for adding sound using the current cabinet speakers.  The cabinet is wired for stereo sound and has 2 rca jacks.

2. Am i damaging my cabinet power supply by essentialy using only the monitor.  If so how can I modify my setup to prevent this?

3. The third issue and possibly the biggest is the display and vertical hold  My screen is constantly rolling I adjust the vertical hold when playing a game after I exit the game i have to readjust the vertical hold to get the screen to stop rolling.  I think the problem is with the resolution setting both inside of mame and outside.  Has anyone had experience with this?  The emulator im running is mame32 and nfba

Thanks for the info guys
p.s will THis sound card work?

If you are needing a small amp to power the existing cabinet speakers installed, another option would be to find an old pair of powered computer speakers and pull the amp board out in order to wire it between the existing audio out on your motherboard and the speakers in your cab.
