panel design for spinner/trackball and mixed games.
« on: August 15, 2008, 04:56:23 am »
Hello,

I'm kind of designing the spinner/trackball layout of my panel and wondered which games are using what and which one use a mixture of things.

spinner + button: breakout, arkanoid, wink or winky (or was that a joystick)

trackball + button (or not) : marble madness, centipede

spinner+joy+button: some tank game I played a few times but I can't recall the name, and Tron aswell?

So my guess is that I need 1 joy, 1 spinner, 1 trackball and 1 button next to each device to cover most games?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You don't need a button next to each. Just use the buttons next to your stick.

Plus one button wouldn't cover it. Off the top of my head, Tempest and Missile Command need more.

Ginsu: I did a search for the misile command cab and indeed there are 3 buttons, not sure why tho as most versions I played only had 1 fire button

Arzoo: thanks, too bad it doesn't catogarize mixtures but it's already a big help.

Missile Command:
1- Left Fire
2- Middle Fire
3- Right Fire

Three arcade buttons. The single fire was in console ports only.
