Y spliter for a PSX2 controller?
« on: June 09, 2003, 04:41:53 pm »
I am kicking off a new project soon and I need some help on integrating console controls into my system.

Is there such a thing as a Y spliter for a PSX2 controller? I'm not looking for a 4 way hub. I'm looking for something that splits the same signal from a controller 2 ways. Not a device that allows 4 people to play on one PSX2 controller slot.

Nope sorry. I don't even see a reason why a manufacturer would want to make something like this. The controller communicates to the host (PS2) over a bi-directional protocol.

Errr, it seems he's asking for one to make one controller, go into two consoles. Most likely so he dosn't need to unplug, then replug it into another console using some form of adaptor for the second. I doubt they make adaptors, but you probly can :P

Thats kinda what I thought too. There is no way this could work. The controller would be getting signals from 2 hosts which would surely not work.

I advise to not do this unless it is switched.

Basically you wire the controls to a switch (like a parallel port switch) then from the switch to the gamepad hacks.

Basically you are correct. Here is a synopsis of my design. I want to have a PSX2 and another console (be it a Dreamcast, XBOX, or other) both connected to my arcade controls and a set of 2 PSX2 gamepads. This is so I can play my PSX2 and other console on my control panel or traditionally with gamepads. If possible I only want one set of gamepads controlling both consoles.

I could probably make you one for $25 shipped. You want it double on the female end or the male end?

I can hack it myself just fine. I was just wondering if there might be a ready made unit in existance.
