Hello everyone. I'm new to the board, and have finally taken the leap and started building my first arcade cabinet. I have gotten the cabinet structure built/sanded/painted, the CP completely drilled and assembled (not yet wired), and just have a simple question: what order do most people wire their player's controls? I am using an Ipac2, and have six buttons per player layed out in the standard 2 rows of 3 buttons pattern.
It would seem logical to wire my CP as such:
1 2 3
4 5 6
Is this the common configuration? Is there a common configuration? My friend noted that it would be nice when playing games with less than 6 buttons to have the buttons be the lower ones, so that they are easy to hit. So the top and bottom rows of buttons would be switched ( and this configuration more closely resembles MAME's default keyboard controls of Left-Ctrl, Left-Alt, Spacebar being under Left-Shift, Z, and X). I feel like I might just be overthinking it, as I can always reprogram the Ipac after the cab is built if I don't like it, but I'd rather just get it right the first time. Thanks in advance.
