What's your aspect ratio?
« on: August 31, 2008, 12:10:11 pm »
I've searched the forums a bit but couldn't find a specific enough post about this subject.

What's your arcade cabinet aspect ratio?  I'm trying to find out what is todays most common aspect ratio in your arcade cabinets to focus design spec's for MaLa GUI layouts.

As listed on MaLa's site, http://malafe.net
- 1.33 (4:3): 320x240, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960
- 1.25 (5:4): 400x320, 640x512, 800x640, 1280x1024, 1600x1280
- 1.6 (16:10): 480x300, 960x600, 1280x800, 1920x1200

What's yours?

I'm a bit thin but pretty fit for my age.

I would guess 4:3 is the most common aspect ratio used in displays for arcade cabinets by far since that is the aspect ratio of most arcade games ever created so arcade DIY's tend to have arcade monitors, CRT Tv's or CRT VGA monitors with that aspect ratio.

I'm actually in the process of converting/updating RetroGUI to RetroGUI-HD or some other equally catchy name.

Main issue is that (posted about this earlier) Mala has issues with my X-Arcade and until I get that resolved, I'm going to most likely make the Layout in MameWah since I'm familiar with it and already have it working fully.  Wish I could just do the images based on number of players and controls...that's a nice feature...and the keyboard hooks...:/
