steering wheel problems
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:21:48 pm »
Hi all,
I have a Pole Position steering wheel which I have hooked up to an Optipac. It works fine in windows moving left and right with no problems. The problem is when I start Mame using AtomicFE. It appears that one or both do not 'see' the steering wheel and I get no movement once Atomic is launched. What I have I failed to do?? I am using Mame v.100. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you enable mouse support in Mame? That could be it.

Call me dumb, but how do I do that?? On a previous machine I was using mame32 so I figured out how to configure controls on that. On this version I can't even find the mame.ini file. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I just set mine up in MALA. There was a checkbox to exchange axis. The wheel is set to x-axis, and the list is on the y-axis; it makes sense to swap them. If you don't see a way to configure it in atomic, PM youki. He is always pretty quick about helping with config questions in Atomic.

For MAME, open mame.ini with notepad. Scroll down until you see the control section. Change mouse = 0 to mouse = 1. You might be able to set this in Atomic but I don't know. I was able to in MALA.
