Mamemarquees CPO adhesive quality?
« on: August 01, 2008, 08:28:54 pm »
I'm wondering how good is the adhesive on their CPO's? I just got a CPO from them and its going on a metal CP. Should i be able to just apply it strait on the metal, or do i have to use some additional adhesive?

Couldnt speak for metal but everything ive ordered from them has great adhesive. I would say go for it but im sure there is somebody here that has experience with metal CPs. Good Luck!

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You could always just pick up a can of 3M adhesive spray to help the process if you're concerned.

That's what i was thinking, but i would like to avoid it if its not necessary. Anybody else with experience on this matter?

I have had several people stick it directly to Metal and it sticks very well.  I use a very high quality vinyl with aggressive solvent adhesive.   I would recommend against using 3m adhesive spray, it would be a waste and could damage the vinyl.

Hey Scott, I got the MAME lightning marquee from you last week (it was a "bargain bin" mis-measurement from another run that just so happened to be almost precisely the right size for me) and I'd like to say, that it is a super nice quality product that looks great in my cab.

When my budget allows I'll be looking for the matching sideart!

Thanks!

I've got 2 CPO's from MM and they are both attached to freshly painted metal CPs, and they stick like a dream.  They stick so well in fact that you have to be very, very accurate when you decide to stick 'em down - you will not be able to adjust them.

My only problem (and it was likely my problem and not to be blamed elsewhere) is that when I cranked down on the carrage bolts for the sticks, the overlay squished out a little bit and when it bubbles, it turns white.  No big deal for me.

3M Adhesive will eventually ruin your CPO...at least according to Pr0k.

Would the adhesive on the side art vinyl make it permanent?  I'm thinking about maybe designing some side art for my cab.  So the side art would be stuck to Formica-type laminate.  But I wouldn't want to use anything that couldn't be removed fairly easily, or something that would permanently discolor/stain the laminate.
