That was pretty darn impressive. It appeared he was just on easy difficulty though.  ;)

If I practiced a bit I could do that. I was decent at that song and I am a fat-ass. I need to crack that game back out and use it to get in shape.

Shardian, wait till you hit 30, getting off of the couch is a major task.  Don't know if its because I'm 30+, out of shape or the extra pounds, maybe all of it but I feel so old.

Oh, to be 5 again....  I'd like to have just an ounce of that kids energy.

I need a nap just watching that.

I don't even think I had that much energy ever.

I have DDR and had it out at a party once and no one could get pass one song on easy mode.  All 30+ year olds.

We went to Rock Band after that, drank and felt sorry for ourselfs.  Just like a real Rock Band.

 :o  :o  :o

Crazyy ass kid!!

On the subject off DDR I took my GF to Skgness the other week (lucky girl eh!! ) and we had the usual walk round the arcades as it would have been rude not too :). She was begging me for ages to have a go on a DDR machine with her and i finally gave in after making sure no one was looking, ha ha! Anyways, I kicked her ass and she doesnt like them now :P

Please don't let me get started on the state of the 'arcades'  :timebomb:

Here's a question for you, what is it with girls and 2p machines (the penny pushing ones), I really don't get it.

Sharidan, this isn't you is it? Make sure you watch until the end  :laugh2:

he was actually playing on standard which is a 7 footer (out of 10).  moderately hard song.

There were a few young kids that played at the theater I use to play DDR at that were absurd.  This one kid was like 8 or 9 and could pass most of the MAX songs

Took the words right out of my mouth.  I keep saying I need a hard platform and always blame the soft pad.  Doesn't seem to slow him down any.  :applaud:

About a year ago, I could AA all but 1 song on Easy, and I could do fairly well on medium on the xbox with my metal pad. Last weekend, I played a game at the arcade; it was very sad. I was doing great...for about 30 seconds, then my legs started wearing out. I stopped about halfway through the song. I really need to get back in shape. I'm 36, and I put on a ridiculous amount of weight over the last year. I used to be able to play ddr songs back to back for over an hour.

I guess I need to pull out the xbox again so I can try to get in shape.

hehe, no that was not me. That fat boy is awful spry though!  :laugh2:

The pad I had when playing DDR was cracked all to hell and the down spot worked sporadically. I have only ever gotten a few perfect scores because of either the bad spot or by slipping around on the mat. I got two of the really nice thick foam ones, but we have never even taken them out of the case. The basement is done now, so I really need to crack them out again.

I have only played on a real machine once or twice. I felt sorry for the poor ---daisies--- who were obsessed with the arcade version. Hope they found a DDR girlfriend, because that was their only shot if any other girl saw them!

OK, I know I'm old  (played Defender the first year it came out and all), but exactly what am I looking at here?  Dance, Dance Revolution?  Can this game be played in MAME??  Do I have to sign a waiver before I lose a testicle or three?

I'm pretty sure it can't...But if memory serves, there are versions on the original Playstation, and there's Stepmania, a PC clone. I've seen a few Stepmania cabs on other sites that took advantage of this, but can't remember where they are.

The PS1 versions are the cheapest to obtain with the most versions available (my personal favourite is Euromix, it's easiest!) if you wanted to build a cab. I did compile a version of Stepmania to my own tastes but it takes ages and can suffer from lag and timing issues occasionally, throwing off the performance of a serious DDR player. I've sketched a compact design for a home DDR cab but as yet I've not got round to building it (along with about 10 other concepts!!).

Wow, all this talk of feeling old. I am in my mid 30s and I feel GREAT! I started to get lazy in my late 20s which led to a lazy attitude in my 30s. which led to me saying crap like, wow at 30 you run out of energy.. bah, it's all in your head. When you're young everything is new, exciting and worth doing. Just start to eat healthy, grab about 5 friends and put 500 bucks down on the winner of an upcoming bike run, walking run, running, marathon whatever. Then start training. In the end you'll feel great and bring in a couple grand. Worked for me. I have a 6-pack, feel awesome, and hit the old lady where it counts all night  ;D

Looks like bs to me - if he has stepmania, you can have the computer play. Looks like he didn't make a few combos that the computer showed as perfect. Unless the easy level is more forgiving?

This thread got me motivated to set up the dance pad downstairs. I had to use my PS2 and DDRMax 2 since I couldn't find the power cable to my PS1.

The DDRMax2 game kind of sucks. The scoring in it is much more difficult than my PS1 dance game. It seems I have to hit the pad too early to get a perfect , and it throws my timing off. We can only play one player right now, because it is hooked up to a 13" tv.  :laugh2:
