How do you post pictures?
« on: June 07, 2003, 11:11:41 pm »
Let's say I have a mock-up picture of my future CP. How do I post it, so that it's visible in the message body?

Method #1:
Click on "Help" up at the top  ;)
Upload your picture to your webspace, and then image link by putting
{img}http://www.mywebspace.com/mypicture.jpg{/img}
in the body of your post (but replace the curly braces with square braces).

Method #2:
Use the "Attach" function and upload it straight to BYOAC's webspace.

FWIW in mozilla (probably 1.0 or 1.1) I can browse, and select my local file, but can never "attach" or upload it.... *shrug*

I had problems posting when the image was too large.

Try resizing the picture to 640x480 Jpeg or PNG. The file size will be smaller, and you won't piss people off (larger images stretch the width of the entire thread).
Mucal invader, is there no end to your oozing?!

That'd be fine.. except there is no attach button (i.e. no way the boards scripts could have any idea how big my image is) I can browse, select an image but not ....uhmph... post it.

*shrug*  unless other people are having a different problem than I am...  (Although i'm more than capable/able to upload to my own server and do some phpbb url /img linkage... In some cases it's nice to do the attachment thing)

Sorry, wasn't actually replying to your problem. The problem some IE users (including myself) were having was they were attaching the image correctly, it was under the 250KB (lets say 175kb), but the board still doesn't recognize it as small enought so it ignores it.

I don't have an attach button either. There is a Browse button for selecting a single image. When you hit post, it uploads the image at the same time. The first couple times I had trouble the image was around 150kb (well under 250kb) and it would not upload the image, it just ignored that I selected one. When I finally resized them and posted them as around 30kb it took longer to post the message (uploading the image, I suppose); and its been working fine since.

I'm not using mozilla but if the above is not the case, I would guess either the script isn't compatiable or they are using a server extension that isn't yet supported by your browser. You could always try the free version of opera just for posting images... not a real solution.

Come to think of it, I don't think I actually read the messages in this thread very clearly the first time.  ???

it's all good... cuz I have the same "issue" in IE 6 patched to moon in winxp home edition...

just user error I guess... or slight board hiccup.
