Virtua Racing, no green lights on Model 1
« on: July 29, 2008, 10:44:51 am »
Aquired a non working twin sit down Virtua Racing recently.
The story was that all was running fine, then Player 2 side just 'went off' and then when they switched off the machine at the wall, Player 1 side came on with a test menu.

Fixed Player 1, by running through the menu and deselecting network support...the machine had been locked in a loop, trying to get an answer from the non working Player 2 side. Player 1 side fired right up.
Replaced the switcher on Player 2 side...now the game PCB's, I/O board and sound board display their running red LED's, before they hadn't and the voltages are now correct.

However, no image on the Player 2 screen and on start up, Player 2's game PCB's flash the line of red and green LED's correctly, but then go to no LED's except the power one.
Player 1 side flashes both banks of LED's and then displays the line of green ones when running.
Have reseated all socket chips, verified supply voltages and checked all wiring for breaks and continuity. The monitor end of the cab however hasn't been tested for wiring troubles, just the seat section.

Anyone got experience of Model 1 PCB's and can tell me what is the probable cause of the Player 2 PCB's setting to obviously a system fault ?
Could it be external ? and waiting on, I dunno, a steering wheel connected message or something ?
