Anyone had a chance to try this out yet?

I have been playing with it for the past week.

No major problems encountered. One thing that is noticeable is how quick it loads and performs.

An email to the developer advises me that karaoke and video support are just around the corner.

Does anyone else have any observations?

Yes the skin looks like crap. Aside from that it has potential, i don't understand why people code these so called touchscreen jukeboxes and insist on using windows styl scroll bars. They don't work on a touchscreen style interface.

I changed the skin buttons and layout.

Took me 5 minutes with the skin editor that is included.

I've yet to have it crash.

Some users like these sliders since they are much faster than page flipping on large libraries.

In MultiFE (Previous MultiJuke)  I dedicated to do the both: Move Left & Right buttons in the top and a slider in the bottom which work a bit diffecent than a windows scrollbar, since you dosent need to hold button down to scroll (which is that problem on touchscreen I guess). But there is no sign of windows scrollers.

The skin look ugly (I guess he is not a graphican), but seen it very easy to skin.

Yeah people like the sliders but they need to code custom sliders rather than skin the windows ones. That is all i am saying... It's about usability at the end of the day.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Bob Matura, the sole developer of the TouchJams touch screen jukebox software which is available - FOR FREE - at www.touchjams.com.  As someone mentioned on this forum, if you wish to contact me, I will get back to you.  My contact info is on that webpage.

Thanks for the feedback all has been leaving.  A couple of points I'd like to make:

1) the software IS BETA
2) focus has been, and will be on a stable product (no crashes), ease of use, and fast performance
3) I'm a software engineer, not a graphical type person so yes, the skins are ugly.  If anyone would like to take the time to make a decent skin, I'd be more than willing to pad their wallet.
4) I've been working on this software for about 2 years now in my spare time.  The reason for doing so is because none of the software out there really fits my needs.
5) My future plans for TouchJams is to eventually sell the product for a very low price (something like $20 with unlimited free upgrades) and to hopefully some day get back all the money I've spent on the 3rd Party libraries that I've purchased to make the product what it is today.
6) Oh ya, the scrollbars.  This a tough one.  As someone mentioned, the page flipping really doesn't work well with huge music libraries.   The scrollbars in TouchJams are not Windows scrollbars, that is they are not skinned CScrollBarWnd's.  They are a derived class from a generic CWnd.  If anyone has suggestions on a better UI for scrolling, I'm more than open to listen.

Anyway, the TouchJams software is out there for you for FREE.  Hopefully you have a good experience with it.  If you don't, let me hear about it and maybe I'll change change things if you have good ideas/suggestions.

Hi Bob.  Does your beta software expire at any point, or is it good forever?  I like to stick to freeware where ever possible, and since there are several outstanding jukebox softwares that are free, I would hate to get used to yours only to find out that it expires and then I have to pay for it.  By the way, the screen shots look pretty good.

TouchJams is 100% absolutely free, and the beta version has 100% all functionality currently implemented.  To be clear, there are no functionality limitations.   There are no time lockouts, there is no limit on the number of music files that can be added to the library, no registration of any kind is needed, etc.  Simply go to www.touchjams.com, navigate to the download page, hit the download link, the setup.zip can be downloaded from there, install it, use it for as long as you wish.

works here and tested it short:

1. There is the debate about  the scrollbar. It dosent really work here elsewice. I like you only use use one tick, but it scroll nerviouse and wont position very precision.

I think you need to use your own scrollbar rutine so it works better for the touchscreen.

2. No text scroll if the title is too long.

3. Album Cover unaviable is jpg compression very hard and then near unreadable.

4. Cannot fint the party mode, which I guess should been placed in General. Could not find the place to remove "Library Import", "Program Options" as well "Export Music" buttons. They are too hided in UI Manager.

Bad Link:

The touchjams.com website is hosted by godaddy.com  For some reason or another, there appears to be times where /that/ company accepts an FTP upload of a file, and then later rejects it.  Sorry if anyone had problems with the BETA download, TY Bob Parsons, the owner of that company.

Yes the scrollbar has issues.  I will have to rethink how that thing operates.

"No text scroll if the title is too long", where is this happenning?  This can be corrected.

"Album Cover unavailble"...what would you suggest I place here?  This doesn't have to be a jpg or any image for that matter.  What would you like to see here?

Party Mode, etc....this stuff is not fully implemented at this point.  I've been at a lost as to how this UI should be set up.  As in, how does the user switch between modes, etc.

Your suggestions are welcome, please let me know.

All the partmode is really need is if you could add the option to remove these settings buttons to the left. Otherwise it not jukebox friendly as long you cant remove these. I do now this is a beta.

I have some albums title which is very long. Look in attachments.

There is also no title in the processbar. Look in attachments.

The No Albums text is just fell very much compressed which is not really needed here.

I think when the user select the UI (where it show admin, partmode etc) in the UI manager, it does nothing. It should effect User interface as well.
