Help ID 1950's wood side pool/pin machine
« on: July 20, 2008, 12:55:15 pm »
Hey guys,
One of my neighbors is moving into an assisted living facility after 50+ years as the original owners of their home. I was helping one of his sons move a washer out of their basement and noticed something very cool buried in the corner. I've never seen anything like this before and not sure where to start looking to research it. Here's what I know so far:

It has a natural wooden cabnet with stained finish, kind of short for a pin. It has box in the lower front and a 10 cent coin mech on the left front of it with what looks like a Williams logo on the plate where you'd drop the dimes. From what I could see of if the play field, it looked like a small bumper pool table with no glass over the playfield and a 2 player mechanical score counter on the back. I saw a couple white and red balls in it, about billiard ball size I'd guess. I'd say they drop into the box in the front and you'd work it like a skee-ball game. Other than some dust and cobwebs, it looks to be in pretty good shape for it's age. Quite solid and probably very heavy. I am told it still works fine, but have not actually seen it go yet. They have to move some more stuff before we can actually get to it, than I'll try to get a picture.

Anyway, I've expressed an interest in the thing, and he told me they'd be happy to sell it as long as they didn't have to move it. As I live right across the street, it's not much of an issue for me if I can round up a friend or two to help me get it out of their basement. What I really need to find is a website or something like KLOV for items this old, so we can research it and determin it's value, etc...

I've tried looking for 'woodside pins' & 'bumper pool pins' but can not find anything made by Williams that looks like what I have seen so far.

Can anyone point me to a resource for this type of thing?
Thanks!

*edit*
I got the name of it now, Willaims Olympic Pool.
So far I've found photo  of a flyer...

Here's the pics :pics !!!

The playfield fabric is kinds skuzzy and all the locks are busted out.
Peeked in the back panel and it looked like it's all orginal innards, or at least not hacked into spagettii yet. Keep in mind it was kinda dark in the basement.

Can't find any good leads on it yet.
Anyone wanna take a crack at it?
