the love guru
« on: July 18, 2008, 09:30:19 am »

i went to see batman tonight. the cinema i went to was showing it on 4 out of 5 screens. but all sessions were still sold out! normally my backup plan would be another movie there (only $6.90, $6.71 USD  ;D) but the only other movie playing was mamma mia. even i wouldnt go see that. so i went to a more expensive cinema and saw love guru. it wasnt absolutely the worst movie ive ever seen, but i would like my money back

the only thing of interest (in retrospect since i didnt recognise him) was justin timberlake as jacque grande. interesting too that this will forever be the low point of ben kingsleys career...

i give it two hockey pucks and half a mantra out of five...

Batman overflow will probably give Love Guru and Meet Dave the majority of their total box office sales.

If they don’t go straight to DVD after the Dark Knight mania wears off, they should plan on releasing them the same weekend as Dark knight too.  Maybe someone frustrated with not getting to rent one of  the 90 copies of Dark Knight will rent them.

I never quite understood going to a movie that I really don't want to see if my first choice is sold out.  I don't live that far away from the theater that I feel that I absolutely have to see a movie if I'm already there... I just get in my car and go home.   :dunno

The Love Guru looks horrible to me and I won't even waste my time renting it when it comes out on DVD.

well, i like to go to the movies. i tend to have a backup movie plan. ill go to a movie even if im not sure about it because sometimes i see a movie that was great despite my initial impressions. 'you dont mess with the zohan' i really enjoyed for instance.

but next time i will be more careful if its not my preferred cinema. that costs $6.90 while the cinema i went to was $14.80! for a crap movie. i wouldnt haved minded so much if it was cheap...
