Got my two cabs today!
« on: July 11, 2008, 05:39:48 pm »
I bought them off of Ebay this week. I drove down to the sellers warehouse this morning. It was about a 180 mile drive one way. I bought an Arkanoid in a scramble cab and an original Swimmer machine. They both work great. The guy gave me an eat s*** look when I told him that they were going to be converted to MAME cabs. He said that the Swimmer unit was rare. It looks like a dumb game to me but who knows. I'll post some pics later tonight when I get some help getting them off of the truck. The guy did have about 300 machine in a warehouse. He said his boss buys them by the TT load at auction and sells them on Ebay. I did not look around long because I was in a hurry to get back home. He did say that he had empty cabs that he would let go for a song if anyone is interested. He is about 40 miles north of Jacksonville, Fl. So, is Swimmer really that rare?

It is uncommon and his eat s*** look was probably warranted.  ;D

It looks like a KLOV collector is looking for a Swimmer.  Maybe you should try and get in touch with them?

The swimmer cab needs work although the game works. I hate to know that it might be a rare game. That will leave me hunting another game. I guess I'll covert the other cab for now and deal with Swimmer later if at all.

Thanks,
Tracy

Don't MAME classics... only JAMMA crap.  Being the Scramble has been converted already,  the arcade gods may let that one slide.  But don't MAME the Swimmer... please.

Yeah I've said this a lot recently and again now; one man's turd is another man's treasure. Always try and keep an original as is - there is always someone who wants it even if you don't.

Swimmer ain't half bad. The wife and I are reliving the 80's. A cold beer and a mindless video game. I actually like this Swimmer game. Have any of you guys played it?

I don't like swimmer. Decent graphics, but not great game-play.
