Another Control Panel Goo option
« on: July 08, 2008, 09:51:33 pm »
Control panel adhesive can be a ---smurf--- to remove, and I haven't seen anyone try Jasco Green Paint remover so I thought I would post results.  I tried it on a small spot, let it sit the full 90 minutes, and it scraped off easily.  I will try the whole panel tomorrow or the next day and post back.  Looks like this will be my preferred method.

Keep us posted.  I'm trying to take off that  :censored: from my Dynamo CP now.

Hope this works out.

How much did it cost?

Working on it now.  Worked great and it was nice that it isn't solvent based.  Didn't need a respirator.  I've got the back side soaking now and will take pics when it's done.

It was on clearance at lowes last year so it was only a few bucks.  Don't remember what it was originally.

Here's a pic of the results.  I would go so far as to say it was easy.
Just need to sand off the rust, paint, and it's ready for a new cpo that Rich is working on.

It's just a little surface rust.  It will sand right off.

It's a Pole Position panel.

oh, good.  that makes more sense.  i am interested in this goo removal stuff, i have a dynamo cabinet with a really crappy overlay on it right now that i would like to remove, but i left it on because i figured it would be a nightmare to clean off properly
