Cup holder source for those interested
« on: June 05, 2003, 09:51:37 am »
I think it's in the software board where someone is discussing the drop down cup holders.  I started searching for a better price than 5.00 a piece, and stumbled onto a website that sold them for 3.50 a piece (not including shipping of course.)  But I also found swing-out cup holders, very cool!

Unfortunately they're 15 a piece.  :(

I just thought I'd share this stuff with anyone who is interested.

Thanks,

BillyJack

EDIT: Thanks Hoagie!  I forgot that part (duh)

http://www.rvandvansurplus.com/drop-in_cup_holders.htm
sorry...

I installed the Happs cup holders on the side my showcase podium. Very secure, even holds glass beer mugs. Having them always sticking out of the side looks a bit dumb.

Those swingout ones would be a nice alternative if they were sturdy enough for mugs.

Old topic      sorry for bringing it up again but does anyone that has the flip down type cup holder have dimensions?

Length, Highth, Width and the Width when it is folded out(Just the back part that doesn't move)

I went with the Ahlstrand Marine cup holders as well:

They've worked out very nicely, but I really do like those swing-out holders!

The flip up boat ones are approximately 4"x4"x1" (folded up and rounded up)

*Shrug* hope that helps.

As I don't want to seem to "Anal" but the space on my CP is very limited. A 1/4" could mean the difference between them working and not. Kevsteele, when you get a chance, can you grab a ruler and check.  I really like the swing ones also, but inside my CP I don't have any room left at all.

Pictures will be forth comming, I promise ( for all the thread jackers out there)  ;) ;)

My measurements:

Width: 4 inches
Height 4 inches
Depth: 1 inch at the thickest point
When open, it extends 4.25 inches outward.

My measurements don't quite jibe with hiyu's, so I don't know if it's the way we're measuring or what. Still I hope this helps.

Well   I found that I only have 3 3/4 inch room highth to use. So now I know to only buy 1 and see if I can "adjust" it to make it fit.

In case you need some a *tiny* bit smaller... I got these:

http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/50-79451.htm

They look to be exactly the same as the Ashland's except a bit smaller - they are 3 3/4" wide by 3 7/8" high by 7/8" deep (when closed, 4" when open).  You said you needed 3 3/4" high - these are definitely 3 7/8" high  :'(

Sorry I don't have the cool measuring thing Oscar has.  I feel so unmanly now  8)

You know, when I posted my measurements... I was going to make some wisecrack about, "not being performed with a digital micronometer or anything.... but...."    but I restrained myself...  (it's forbidden in the code to take 2 digs at OSCAR in one thread =P)

On the Ahlstrand Marine brand, is the cup ring flush with the top like the one below? I can't tell from any of the pics.

It's fairly close -- I'd guess about 1/16" - 1/8" from the very top (sorry, I don't have a micrometer, digital or otherwise  ;) )
