You'll need a glass scoring device, and a straight edge.

Or you could let someone with the proper tools do it.  That way, you're sure to get the proper fit (unless they're incompetent)

I dont really want to hire a professional, but I do not mind getting the tools for the job if it's not too bad.

I wouldn't bother buying any tools. Your really not going to use them again. I'd go up to your local ace or truevalue hardware store (or any other small hardware store like that). Just talk to the guy in the glass cutting area and he will probably do it for free. If not for free he will only charge you a buck or two for each piece cut. And I'm telling you it works. I replaced a whole set of cabling on an excercise machine for like $5 at the local do-it yourself center, to buy the crimping tool would have costed me an additional $60 but they did all the crimping for free. They make thier money by treating you good so you go back there and buy stuff you need instead of going to menards or lowes.

Also, just FYI... make sure it's plain old plate glass and NOT TEMPERED.. You cannot cut tempered, it will shatter into a thousand little pieces (like side/back car windows).  Tempered glass can only be cut before tempering.   I've heard stories of people trying to shave down monitor bezels and what not, only destroying them in the process.
