Sanwa/Seimitsu Push Buttons?
« on: June 27, 2008, 08:35:20 am »
Are any Sanwa/Seimitsu push buttons designed for (or have a shaft long enough) to work with a wooden CP, as i notice alot of them are designed fot a metal CP and just clip in place rather than screw with a plastic nut?

Not sure, but if not, either route out the section underneath where your buttons are or use some kind of bonding agent and just jam them in the holes!

There are screw in sanwa/seimitsu buttons.  They dont have nearly the same thread length as happ, so if you're using thick MDF you might still have to route the underside some.  If you have a plexi top on your CP though, the buttons will clip right in to the plexi.  That is how my CP is set up.

Go to http://www.lizardlick.com if you're looking for Sanwa stuff

Even though the Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons have nuts they are still rather short.  I use 1/2" MDF and 1/8" plexi and still have to drill out space for them.  I use a 1/8" drill bit for a pilot hole.  Then use a 30mm forsner bit on the top and a 1 1/2" forsner bit on the bottom.  I only drill halfway through with the forstner bits and meet in the middle.  You could also use two 1/4" MDF boards in a sandwich, one has the holes for the buttons and the other has a larger hole so you can screw on the nuts.

Here is a pic of my 1/2" MDF board.  It is a little hard to see but you can see the recesses for the buttons on the left side.
