Theme suggestions

Looks like I am trading a deck for my arcade in a few weeks, pretty good deal I guess.  :applaud:

Naturally another machine will replace it but being as I have already made 6 in the past its tough thinking up new "themes". So, to all my crazy "if I could build another one I'd.....I'd....I'd....." type folks in the forum, please make a few suggestions.

I thought of making a "GoldenTee" themed machine with a grass CPO & white trackball (no mounting plate) to replicated a golf ball appreance & then white buttons + chrome pear joys to keep it white, chrome, green & most of all clean.

Torn between another Showcase or the infamous "Ultimate" plans with white formica on the top sides to mimmic most GT's out there.

Showcases are AWESOME but a tad too big, Ultimates are very common but I think thats for a reason.

Anyway, any theme ideas out there?

A bar theme where the artwork and build is like that of a bar top.  My Family Guy Drunken Cab cabinet is kind of like that.  (The artwork turned out great, though I may need to update the trackball from blue to yellow or red to match up with the nachos part of the artwork, but I digress).

Other themes that would be kind of neat would be:

James Bond, 007
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
South Park
Lord Of The Rings
Beavis and Butt-Head
Donkey Kong High Scores:
1): 49,500
2): 35,600
3): 30,100
4): 29,400
5): 28,200

Hello-Kitty Theme
Smurfs Theme
Katamari Damacy Theme
Barbie Theme
Kirby Theme
Boogie Nights Theme
Cannonball Run Theme (oops, two themes that need vectorising Burt Reynolds  )
 :laugh2:

But the holy grail might be theme-less.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Lord Of The Rings

I like the possibilities for both of these suggestions, nice work Jdurg.

A LOTRO Would be interesting indeed. Lots of spinner's that could be modeled as rings, you could have emulator skins where each emulation is one of the rings, with MAME being the ring of power.  :P

Potential to make some kind of awsome side art/flashy art that could be mount doom, or Sauron's Eye!

Wow.....suddenly I have the urge to start sketching.....

****Attempts Jedi Mind trick****

You will forget the LOTRO idea, your not interested  >:D

I think another idea that I threw around, but never did anything with was a Mario themed cab, with all kinds of PVC Pipe routed all over/through it, painted green.

Transformers -  I think this idea has a great potential for FE Skinning...where when you switch emulators, the transition animation is the autobot or decpticon symbol, like the old G1 cartoons, soundwave saying is phrases when selected, or Optimus...Autobots transform and ROLLOUT!  Lighted Sideart with a plexi etched Transformers symbol that pulses with sounds of the games.....HAWT!!!  Player 1 is translucent Red, Player 2 could be translucent purple.

Another idea that just ran through my head was a Dracula themed cab.  Use a lot of Eastern European themes with castles, bats, blood, mist, vampires, etc.  That would look pretty cool with dark red buttons, T-Molding, artwork that uses puddles of blood for the player surrounds, etc.
Donkey Kong High Scores:
1): 49,500
2): 35,600
3): 30,100
4): 29,400
5): 28,200

I too once thought about an all black arcade, even a black marquee!!!

It just screams "everything" while claiming relation to nothing.............The true multi arcade.....rather than have a "sybil" like design of 100 games...........Good idea RayB/Blanka, at least the artwork will be cheap, LOL! Its almost poetic  :'(

LOTR is a pretty sweet idea too, so is Mario, man thats cool! (Jedi reply to Aceldamor: "this isnt the post you're looking for").

Family guy.........OMFG!!!!!! POST PICS NOW Jdurg :applaud:

Barbie?
Hello Kitty?
Smurfs?

Youre fired  ;D

Yeah.  So far I've just got the CP built and the coin-door restored and ready to go.  Due to unexpected "issues" in real life, the building of the cabinet itself has not commenced.  So right now I just have a working CP.  At least I can play games.   ;D  I'm really hoping that once the issues have settled a bit I'll get the "oomph" that I need to build the cab itself.

Here's a low-resolution version of the control panel art.  The CP has been painted a donkey kong jr. type of orange with black t-molding on it, and one black admin button on the sides.  Both sides of the CP have beer/soda can holders too.  Once I get off ---my bottom--- and go to Radio Shack to pick up some terminal blocks to make wiring up the coin door to the CP easier, I'll put the T-Molding back on and take a photo.  Then again, I also need to install bolts on the bottom of the CP in order to bolt it to the cab once it's built.

and here's one to my very slow project announcement thread:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=74344.0
